Week 8 Game 7 vs Durham

Week 8 Game 7 Recap – vs Durham Dolphins

In their home away from home, Ron Joyce Stadium, the JV Stamps extended their regular season record to 7-0 with a 20-8 win over the visiting Durham Dolphins. With the only points in the 1st quarter coming from Durham conceding a safety to Burlington, the 2nd qtr saw QB Keagan Hall find WR Reid Matthew for a 21yd TD pass and 5₵ Kenny Sproat for the 2 pt conversion. K/P Nico Gabriele’s 14yd field goal brought the halftime score to 13-0 for the Stamps. Halfway through the 3rd qtr Hall found Sproat again for a 1yd TD pass which Gabriele converted bringing the score to 20-0. QB Hall went 15/30 and 158yds, 1 INT and the 2 TDs. RB Josh Munoz lead the ground game with 16 carries for 101 yards. Other than a late 4th qtr Durham TD, the Stamps defensive team stepped up to shut Durham out lead by DB Ethan Monaghan who had 2 tackles, a pass knockdown, an interception which he returned for 32 yards and a blocked punt, which was recovered by DL Sean Condon for a 4yd return. Also on fire was LB Zack Ihasz with 6 tackles, including a tackle for loss and the lone QB sack of the day. Rounding out the top 3 defensive point getters was RB Mackenzie Cameron who was filling in at DB with 3 tackles, a pass knockdown and an interception which he returned for 5 yards. LB Justus Vasilakos McRae also got an interception with a 13yd return which set the offense up with good field position. The JV Stamps have clinched 1st place in the JV East division and home field advantage going into playoffs on the road to Kington for the OPFL Championships. The Stamps are on a BYE week this week but return to Corpus Christi HS for their last regular season home game against the Cambridge Lions on Sunday, July 16 at 1:30pm

Week 7 Game 6 vs Ottawa Sooners

A highly anticipated return home to Corpus Christi HS saw the JV Stamps extending their record to 6-0 with a win over the visiting Ottawa Sooners. The JV Stamps struck hard and fast taking a 17-0 lead in the 1st quarter with TD passes from QB Keagan Hall to 5₵ Kenny Sproat and WR Eric Cabral and a 12 yrd field goal by K/P Nico Gabriele. In the 2nd quarter, 2 rushing TDs by RB Josh Munoz and a blocked punt by DB Ethan Monaghan which he recovered and returned for a TD brought the halftime score to 31-6 for the Stamps. The JV Stamps were a little flat in the 3rd quarter allowing the Sooners to put up 16 unanswered points but the 4th quarter saw the Stamps add to the scoreboard again with 2 rushing TDs by LB/FB Zack Ihasz.  Gabriele was good on all converts for the day going 7/7. Once again, RB Munoz was the leading rusher with 98 yards on 20 carries. QB Hall was 13/21 with 161 yards with 1 INT. It was a big defensive day for DB Ethan Monaghan who had 4 tackles (1 solo and 3 assists), 2 blocked punts – 1 which he recovered and returned for a TD and 1 interception which he returned for 14 yards. DB Eric Faubert added 5 tackles (2 solo, 2 assists and 1 tackle for loss) and had 2 of his own interceptions which he returned for a combined total of 79 yards. DB Owen Lacroix rounded up the top 3 defensive point getters with 4 tackles (including 1 special teams) and a forced fumble and recovery. Adding to the defensive side of the ball, DL Max Prince registered the only 2 QB sacks of the game. The JV Stamps host their Canada Day weekend home game against the visiting 2nd place Durham Dolphins at Ron Joyce Stadium on Sunday, July 2. Kick-off is at 1:30pm.  

Week 6 Game 5 @ Kingston

In their final regular season away game, the JV Stampeders increased their record to 5-0 with a 46-28 win over the Kingston Grenadiers. Keagan Hall lead the QB crew by completing 12/17, 198 yards and 3 TDs. QB Elijah Paulsen went 2/2 with 1 TD and QB Malik Henry went 1/2. On the other end of the air attack, SB Reid Matthew caught 4/121 yards and 2 TD, one each from Hall and Paulsen; 5¢ Kenny Sproat went 2/50 and 1 TD while WR Jack Merk caught 1 for a 7 yard TD. The ground campaign was lead once again by RB Josh Munoz with 13 carries for 102 yards, followed by RB Sito Berrio with 4 for 40 yards. QB Hall, rushed for a 1 yard QB sneak for the TD. K Nico Gabriele added to the scoreboard going 6/6 in converts and 1/3 in field goals (39 yards). The defensive pressure was lead by DB Ethan Monaghan with 4 solo, 2 assist tackles and 2 interceptions, which he returned for 68 yards and 12 yards; LB Zack Ihasz with a total of 7 solo tackles which included 2 tackles for loss and 3 special teams solos, as well as a pass knockdown; and DB Eric Faubert with 5 solos, which included 2 special teams tackles and 1 assist tackle and a pass knockdown. HB Owen Lacroix had a 35 yard pick six in the first defensive drive to put early points on the scoreboard. DB Quentin Reid had the 4th interception of the game which he returned for 20 yards. The JV Stampeders will finally play their first home game at Corpus Christi HS on Sunday, June 25 at 1:30pm against the visiting Ottawa Sooners.
