The OPFL is deeply saddened by the loss of two members of our Ontario football community. Spencer Edwards (aged 18) and his father Don Edwards (aged 59), were tragically taken from us in a fatal automotive accident on the morning of October 31st outside Hagersville, Ontario.
Spencer was a part of the OPFL family as an Offensive Lineman with the 2018 Cambridge Lions Varsity team. His on the field competitive style and skill were only surpassed by his incredible positive influence and zest for life off the field. He will always be remembered as a great team player by his coaches and teammates.
Don was the current President of the Ontario Football Alliance. Don was a long-time active sports supporter throughout the Hamilton area. For many years he has been an on-air personality with the local broadcast crew covering the OUA McMaster Marauders football club. Don’s passing will leave a big void in our football community, as his was a life of service, care, compassion and excellence.
Spencer and Don leave behind mom/wife Deborah, and sister/daughter Katie, to whom we offer our heartfelt condolences and thoughts/prayers are with Deborah and their family during this difficult time.
