The team’s hard work and “#12strong” philosophy brought them home the OMFL Championship trophy!

The Clarington Knights Football Club has overcome many obstacles over the past few seasons.  The entire Board of Directors needed to be re-built and re-structured to ensure the continued success of the club. This restructuring, along with the continued support of various Coaches and parent volunteers, contributed to, two teams having very inspiring seasons in 2016.  The Knights welcome continued success moving forward into 2017 with the OPFL.

The Peewee team had a heartbreaking summer 2016 season as they struggled week to week ending their season without winning a single game. These young Knights learned that they needed to work together as a team and never stop playing their hardest regardless of the score. They learned to play for their teammates and test their own skills week to week to continue to improve for the next game and the next season. Their coaches constantly reminded them that everyone has their own skill set they need to develop and that it’s about putting your head down and playing as hard as you can on every play. Thanks to the encouragement of their coaches and families, the Peewee Knights came back in the Fall season and finished third overall. This group of Knights showed that it is more than possible to overcome any adversity that they are faced with. Andy Venning, General Manager of the Clarington Knights, along with the entire Board of Directors and Knights Family, feels that this kind of determination and “never quit” attitude, is a sign of big things to come for the Knights.

The Clarington Knights Bantam team had the opposite summer season from the Peewees as they went undefeated with a perfect 10-0 season! The team’s hard work and “#12strong” philosophy brought them home the OMFL Championship trophy! The lessons that the Bantam Knights learned in the 2016 summer season of staying humble and not letting success deter them from honing their skills, will undoubtedly carry over to the upcoming 2017 season.

The overall focus for the Clarington Knights Football club going forward is recruiting players and retain members season after season. The Board of Directors and Knights Family are looking forward to the upcoming spring/summer OPFL season and have set a club goal to move up to the premier division within the next year or two.
