Week 1 Recap

The JV Stampeders opened the inaugural OPFL Premier Division Season with a hard fought win over the Essex Ravens. The Ravens took an early 12-0 lead in the 1st quarter and entered the half ahead 18-9. The JV Stamps rallied back and tied the score at 25-25 with less than 2 minutes left in the 4th quarter. With 3.6 seconds remaining in the 4th, a deliberate missed field goal play, saw the JV Stampeders tackling the Essex carrier in the end zone for the rouge, elevating the Stamps to a 26-25 win over Essex. Scorers for the Stamps were Kenny Sproat with 2 TDs from Keagan Hall passes, Josh Munoz with 1 rushing TD and Nico Gabriele with a field goal, a convert and a rouge. On the defensive side of the ball, Zack Ihasz had 2 solo tackles, 1 tackle for loss, 1 pass knockdown and 1 forced fumbled which he returned for 27 yards while Eric Faubert had 2 solo tackles, 2 interceptions, and a pass knockdown. The JV Stampeders are off this week then travel to Ottawa on May 27 to face the Cumberland Panthers.
